Sorry Ladies, ‘Sex and the City 3’ Is Not Happening

After much anticipation, Sarah Jessica Parker has announced that the beloved Sex and the City franchise will not return for a third reboot, as reported by CNN. On Thursday, the actress confirmed the rumors making waves in an interview with Extra as she and her husband, Matthew Broderick, made their way to the New York City Ballet Gala. “It’s over,” she said. “We’re not doing it.”

Since Sex and the City 2 was released in 2010, fans of the foursome have been clamoring for news of the next movie. Parker went on to say she was “disappointed.” “We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story,” she continued. “It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.”

In addition to Parker, Kristen Davis, who played Charlotte on the popular HBO series and it’s big-screen adaptions, also shared her frustration about the news. “It is true that we are not going to be able to make a [third] film,” Davis wrote in heartfelt Instagram post on Friday. “I wish that we could have made the final chapter, on our own terms, to complete the stories of our characters. It is deeply frustrating not to able to share that chapter (beautifully written by [Sex and the City creator Michael Patrick King]) with all of you. So we will just have our memories.”
