President Channing Dungey of ABC Cancels ‘Roseanne’ Over Valerie Jarrett Tweet
See, that smart ass mouth will get you in trouble every time! Roseanne did you forget the woman who signs your check is black?
ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey announced Tuesday that the network would be canceling “Roseanne” in the fallout over a racially charged tweet from the show’s star, Roseanne Barr.
“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” the statement from ABC read.
Barr was under fire Tuesday for a tweet insulting former President Barack Obama aide Valerie Jarrett as the offspring of the Muslim Brotherhood and the “Planet of the Apes” film franchise. Bar tweeted, “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” in response to a story about WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange and Obama’s CIA.
The show’s star later apologized, saying the tweet was a “bad joke” and that she was leaving Twitter. Before ABC made the decision to cancel the show, Wanda Sykes, who was a consulting producer on the show’s reboot, confirmed she would not return to the show.
In March, ABC had renewed “Roseanne” for a 13-episode second season.
Roseanne went on later to say that she is taking #Ambien however, of all the side effects and never saw where it says it will have you making racist remarks on twitter. Goodbye Roseanne, go play with The Donald.
