Isaiah Thomas might REALLY regret this old tweet about his new teammate LeBron James
Isaiah Thomas is the latest example of why athletes should delete their old tweets. Thomas was just sent to Cleveland in a trade for Kyrie Irving that also sent Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and Brooklyn’s 2018 first-round pick to Cleveland. He’s now teammates with LeBron James, which is great. Until you do some digging on the timeline, and realize things could get awkward.
In 2010, Thomas tweeted the following as a 21-year-old student-athlete at the University of Washington:
Of course, later that summer James would have his now-infamous television broadcast of “The Decision” and join the Miami Heat, going on to win a pair of championships with Dwyane Wadeand Chris Bosh. The bottom line: Isaiah Thomas was a Kobe Bryant stan back in the day, saying that Bryantwouldn’t have ever let a team beat him like James did.
Bryant and the Lakers ended up beating the Celtics that postseason, and Thomas correctly predicted that James would indeed leave Cleveland. Now, Thomas is going to try to help James overcome the Warriors in Cleveland for at least one season.
