Chance The Rapper Pledges To Give $1 Million To #SocialWorks For Mental Health Services In Chicago

Chance the Rapper, who is becoming known as the philanthropist of hip-hop, has pledged to donate $1 million to mental health services in his hometown of Chicago, ABC Chicago reports. During his annual summit for his nonprofit, SocialWorks, Chance discussed his “My State of Mind” initiative which will work to ensure that Chicago residents have access to mental health resources. To kick off this initiative, SocialWorks will be giving $100,000 grants to six mental health providers in Cook County.

Chance isn’t stopping there. He also pledged to expand on his donations to Chicago Public Schools. This year, 20 more schools will get $100,000. We will be upping the game in terms of equity, in terms of what is rightfully yours. Principals, teachers, we got your back.”

In September, the “No Problem” rapper teamed up with Lyft to help donate even more monies through Lyft’s Round Up & Donate Program by involving consumers. Riders were able to round up their fares so a portion of it would be donated to the Chicago Public School System.
